QUESTIONS

What's the difference between a clinical massage and a sports massage?

Clinical massage and sports massage are both therapeutic, but they differ in focus and techniques.

Focus:

  • Clinical Massage: A broad approach that considers overall health and well-being, addressing various conditions beyond sports-related issues.
  • Sports Massage: Specifically tailored to athletes, aiming to prevent and treat injuries related to sports, enhance performance, and aid recovery.

    Techniques:

    • Clinical Massage: Involves diverse techniques such as Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, myofascial release, and trigger point therapy.
    • Sports Massage: Utilises techniques like deep tissue massage, stretching, joint mobilization, and specific sports massage strokes.

    Goals:

    • Clinical Massage: Aims for pain relief, stress reduction, improved circulation, flexibility, and overall relaxation.
    • Sports Massage: Focuses on enhancing athletic performance, preventing injuries, and promoting faster recovery from training or competition.

While clinical massage has a broader scope and can address various health concerns, sports massage is specifically designed for individuals involved in sports and physical activities. The choice between the two depends on individual needs, preferences, and the specific goals of the massage therapy. It’s worth noting that I may/do integrate aspects of both approaches based on the client’s requirements.

How long are appointments and how much do they cost?
      • Initial online consultations are free and take about 30 minutes via zoom.
      • Clinical, pregnancy and mobile appointments are 60 minutes and cost £60.  90 minute appointments can be arranged as necessary.
      • Discounts are given for block booking appointments, details of which can be found here.

      Where is the clinic?

The Garden Room can be found on Beverley Road, Watchfield, SN6 8DJ

      What is your cancellation policy?

I appreciate that life happens and things change. I will always do my best to rearrange your appointment if possible.

However, it is very difficult for me to fill appointments at short notice.  Therefore, if you cancel your appointment within 48hrs of the time, you will be liable to the full appointment fee.

      Thank you for your understanding.

      Is the clinic wheelchair accessible?

Unfortunately at this time, the clinic cannot be accessed by a wheelchair. However I do offer mobile appointments, so please book an online consultation to understand your requirements.

      Is there parking available?

Yes, there is a large parking bay at the front of the building.

Are there toilets or waiting facilities?

There is no waiting area, so if you arrive early, please wait in your car.

There is a toilet in our house, which can be used, but I would encourage you to go before you leave for your appointment.

      What should I wear?

Massage works best with skin to skin contact. Therefore, depending on what area is being treated, I recommend easy to undress clothes.

Underwear can be kept on, or shorts are a good option.  Blankets are used to keep you warm and covered.

Whatever you feel most comfortable in is usually best.

Can I purchase a gift voucher?

Yes, gift vouchers are available here.
